Intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics-jet action.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Jet action from experimental "berry" aneurysms was evaluated as part of a long-range study of stress-strain-time relations of aneurysmal rupture. It was apparent that free jet action was a potent stress agent upon matter in its path. Calculated velocities of free jets ranged up to 477 cm. per sec. Supplementary observations were made upon jets from glass-model aneurysms, including the jet effects upon gelatin blocks cast about the models. Coefficients of velocity were determined for the various jets studietl and the results were correlated with theoretic hydraulics.

How do coil configuration and packing density influence intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics?
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Endovascular coiling is a well-established therapy for treating intracranial aneurysms. Nonetheless, postoperative hemodynamic changes induced by this therapy remain not fully understood. The purpose of this work is to assess the influence of coil configuration and packing density on intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three 3D rotational angiography im...
متن کاملCharacterization of cerebral aneurysms for assessing risk of rupture by using patient-specific computational hemodynamics models.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Hemodynamic factors are thought to play an important role in the initiation, growth, and rupture of cerebral aneurysms. This report describes a pilot clinical study of the association between intra-aneurysmal hemodynamic characteristics from computational fluid dynamic models and the rupture of cerebral aneurysms. METHODS A total of 62 patient-specific models of cerebra...
متن کاملAnalysis of intra-aneurysmal flow for cerebral aneurysms with cerebral angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Hemodynamics is an important factor in the development and rupture of cerebral aneurysms. Current techniques for measuring blood flow in cerebral aneurysms suffer from various limitations and have not been able to address our clinical needs. A new technique has been developed for effective evaluation of intra-aneurysmal flow based on high-frame-rate cerebral angiography, ...
متن کاملEffects of Variations of Flow and Heart Rate on Intra-Aneurysmal Hemodynamics in a Ruptured Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysm During Exercise.
BACKGROUND Hemodynamics is thought to play an important role in the mechanisms responsible for initiation, growth, and rupture of intracranial aneurysms. Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis is used to assess intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the effects of variations in heart rate and internal carotid artery (ICA) flow rate on intra-aneurysmal he...
متن کاملComputational fluid dynamics modeling of intracranial aneurysms: effects of parent artery segmentation on intra-aneurysmal hemodynamics.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to show the influence of the upstream parent artery geometry on intraaneurysmal hemodynamics of cerebral aneurysms. METHODS Patient-specific models of 4 cerebral aneurysms (1 posterior communicating artery [PcomA], 2 middle cerebral artery [MCA], and 1 anterior communicating artery [AcomA]) were constructed from 3D rotational angiography images. Two geomet...
